I’ve been writing short stories for over 40 years — first on paper tablets, then on computers. The shift to digital opened a whole new world for me, though for a long time I had no practical way to publish.

I’m not a voracious reader. I read slowly, needing to visualize the characters and scenes to truly enjoy a book. I’ll reread a sentence or paragraph until I can feel the rhythm of the words and see the moment unfold.

The truth is, I’m a visual person and a huge fan of film and television — when it’s done well. And therein lies the rub.
